Yom Yerushalayim

Jerusalem Day (יום ירושלים‎) marks the 1967 reunification of Jerusalem and The Temple Mount under Jewish rule during the Six-Day War almost 1900 years after the destruction of the Second Temple in Jerusalem.

From Psalm 137, usually said under the Chuppah right before the groom breaks the glass:

אם אשכחך ירושלים, תישכח ימיני, תדבק לשוני לחיקי, אם לא אזכרך

CRZ Hanukkah Party

Don't miss our traditional Hanukkah celebration.  Dinner served at 5:30 p.m., followed by  singing, and candle-lighting.  All members of the community are welcome.  Bring your appetite and family menorah. We will have latkes and the candles.

Selichot Service

During the month of Elul, the shofar is sounded each weekday morning, awakening us to the period of reflection on the past year and helping us to begin the proess of teshuvah (returning) as the New Year approaches.  The Selichot service on Saturday night introduces many of the themes of the High Holidays as it encourages us to make a commitment to change for the better in the New Year.

Interfaith Thanksgiving Celebration at RMC

The Hyde Park & Kenwood Interfaith Council has sponsored an Interfaith Community Thanksgiving Service for over 90 years.  This service is a celebration of the Hyde Park-Kenwood neighborhood’s religious and community diversity, typically featuring readings and chants from diverse religious traditions, musical selections by the Chicago Children's Choir, organ and other vocal or choral music, and 

Na'aseh V'Nishma

Na'aseh V'Nishma:  Rosh Hashanah Edition is an innovative, contemporary Rosh Hashanah service with mostly music and singing, led by Cantor Rachel Rosenberg and supported by a special musical ensemble with musicians Chuck Rosenberg, Ben Waltzer, and Steve Yastrow.  Modeled after the monthly experience we do at CRZ all year, this special gathering will include thoughtful readings and discussion in the spirit of the Days of Awe and a new outlet for spiritual expression.  While geared toward adults, the service is open and accessible to all ages including school-aged ch

Volunteer for Maot Chitim

The Ma'ot Chitim of Greater Chicago helps needy Jews in our community to celebrate the holidays in a traditional and dignified manner.  Members of Rodfei Zedek annually help in the delivery of Ma'ot Chitim (food packages) for the High Holidays and Passover.  Delivery is on April 14.  Packing perishables starts at 6:00 a.m. at location tba.  Delivery begins at 9:00 a.m.  For more information, call 847.674.3224.
