The Latke-Hamantash Debate has been a University of Chicago tradition since 1946.  UChicago faculty members apply the knowledge and tools of their disciplines to this age-old question in an evening of fun and frivolity!  Past participants have included Nobel Prize winners and University presidents.  Join the community for yet another attempt to resolve the question.

Sponsored by University of Chicago Hillel, the Debate is held at Mandel Hall, 5706 South University Avenue.  Admission to the Latke-Hamantash Debate is free; seats are first-come, first-served.  Attendance typically exceeds 1,000, so don't be late; in the past the doors have opened at 7:00 to a long line.  After the debate, there is usually a ticketed reception ($5 in the past) in the adjacent Hutchinson Commons where you can taste latkes and hamantashen.
