Rachel DeWoskin on Jewish Refugees in Shanghai

University of Chicago professor and author Rachel DeWoskin will give a presentation on the Jewish refugee community of Shanghai during WWII, and read from her new novel set there, Some Day We Will Fly, on Sunday, May 19, at 10:30am in the chapel.  Praised by Aleksandr Hemon as a writer embodying "an extraordinary combination of curiosity and kindness," her other works include the novels Big Girl Small and Repeat After Me, and the memoir Foreign Babes in Beijing, which details her unlikely career as the star of a Chinese soap opera.  Copies of her books will be available for purchase and signing at the talk, through Seminary Coop Bookstore.
