Meetings
- The Board of Trustees’ meetings are usually held on the fourth Monday of the month. They are preceded by a light dinner at 6:30 p.m.; meetings begin at about 7:30 p.m. Because date conflicts sometimes affect Board Meetings, check the Meetings Schedule and/or the Calendar.
- All Rodfei Zedek members are invited to Board meetings featuring special speakers or presentations, which start at 6:00 p.m. and will be announced in the Bulletin. Please inform the office if you plan to attend. On these occasions, the Board meetings begin at 8:00.
- Executive Committee meetings for officers and invited guests are held on the second Monday of the month.
Standing Committees
These are some of Rodfei Zedek’s standing committees and organizations, all of which would benefit from your time and talent. Let the Office know in which ones you are interested, and the committee chair will contact you with more information.
- Administration Committee (Beth Niestat, Chair)
- Oversees the functions of the synagogue office, including representative attendance at staff meetings; performs whatever studies are necessary to advise the Executive Committee on personnel, payroll, and office equipment concerns.
- Education Committee (Miriam Kass, Chair)
- Oversees adult and children's education, and the library; maintains liaison with the schools of the Congregation through communication with principal and parent group leaders.
- The Hoffman Religious School Committee works to review and approve the school policies and curriculum. Within the last few years the Committee has helped create a post-B’nai Mitzvah class and orchestrated partnerships with both Anshe Emet and K.A.M.-Isaiah Israel for Hebrew High School for our high school students. It also advises on Shabbat and High Holiday Family Services. The Committee is composed primarily but not exclusively of parents of children attending the Hoffman Religious School.
- Finance Committee (Sara Segal Loevy, Chair)
- Oversees budget, dues collection, fundraising, the endowment fund, and other matters relating to the finances of the Congregation; prepares and submits annual budget to the Executive Committee and Board; receives monthly statements and annual reports and prepares interpretations and recommendations based on these reports to the Executive Committee and Board.
- House Committee (Joseph Peterson, Chair)
- Oversees maintenance of building and grounds; considers and makes recommendations for repairs and improvements, determining costs.
- Membership Committee (Rhea Basa, Chair)
- The Membership Committee is working to make current members feel more at home at Rodfei and more aware of current programs, classes, celebrations, and services, as well as to attract new members. Last year a Membership Directory was published. Join the Membership Committee as a greeter at Shabbat Services, as a synagogue buddy for a new member or family, or as a wordsmith as we work on communication.
- Program Committee (Sarah Abella, Chair)
- Oversees the cultural activities of the Congregation; ensures creation of appropriate publicity for programs.
- Ritual Committee (Robert Channon, Chair)
- Makes recommendations to the Executive Committee and Board on matters pertaining to ritual and observance; liaison with professional staff on ritual matters; oversees conduct of services, including the work of gabbaim and ushers; with Program Committee, plans special holiday observances and programs. The Rabbi and Cantor are ex officio members of this committee.
- Men’s Club (Andrew J. Aronson, President)
- Sisterhood (Sharon Ringel Glick, President)
