Learning & Community–Yamei Limud
Yom Limud–A Day of Learning at CRZ
Our Yom Limud is a new structure that has emerged in our quest to engage a learning community. It is also based on the fact that many members are gifted at many levels. This day entails: joyful learning which features a wide variety of topics such as art, worship, culture, text study, film, music, dance, humor, history, networking, and fun, all within an intergenerational environment. Members have an opportunity to meet one another at a deeper level. We are looking to provide learning opportunities through dialogue and facilitated processes.
Yom Limud offers participants the opportunity to come together, be inspired, and learn in an informal, vibrant atmosphere. There may be a line of text or a bit more used as a provocation to induce a dialogue with substance.
The "leit motif" is to have members share their strengths and knowledge. It is to bring together people with diverse interests and backgrounds to study Jewish issues. An inclusive, integrative event, Yom Limud emphasizes what the participants have in common–interest in, wonder and curiosity about Jewish issues and Jewish sources, as well as the desire to learn and to exchange ideas.
"The Kabbalistic tradition tells us that the Torah turns a unique face to every Jew, meant for and accessible by only that individual. It is therefore incumbent on each one of us to study so we can discover the face of Torah that is ours alone and incorporate it into the tradition. Only then will we have fulfilled our true purpose."
I usually ask everyone about their passions and to share something they love or enjoy talking about or an experience to share.
Please come to share your unique face of Torah–the dates for the next four Yamei Limud this year, 1:00-6:00 p.m.:
- October 24th. Umbrella Theme and lens: Healing and Community
- December 5th. Chanukah: Diversity, Culture and Music
- February 5th. Shabbat: Being, freedom, boundaries to preserve–what is it all about and why its centrality?
- March 27th. Responsibility in its broadest sense-and how is it also linked to rebel or not to rebel–A Jewish Big Idea
Please get in touch with Diana at LearningCommunity@rodfei.org if you have expertise/experience in any one or more of these topics and are willing to share your gifts. |
